As part of The Hymn Society’s ongoing commitment to the enrichment of congregational song, and in anticipation of the 2018 conference, “Sacred Song and the Public Square,” the Executive Committee has announced a search for a new song. The winning entry will be premiered at our 2018 conference in St. Louis, Missouri. This search honors the role that sacred song has played in uniting people to stand against injustice and seek positive change in their communities. An effective entry in this search will provide a singable, short form song in the style of the oral tradition.
Deadline for submissions is May 15, 2018. A prize of $500 will be offered to the winning entry, which will be sung at the St. Louis conference and published in The Hymn. For additional information, visit Hymn Society’s Song Search/a>
