Spring Conversation: Canada and The Hymn Society May 2-3, 2023

Canadian members of The Hymn Society, and folks interested in congregational song in the Canadian context, are warmly invited to a series of online Zoom conversations hosted by Hilary Donaldson (President, The Hymn Society in the US and Canada) on May 2 and 3 from 1:00 to 4:30 pm ET each day.

Since our last Canadian conference gathering in 2017, the landscape of church music and congregational song in Canada has seen many changes. Who are we, and what are we singing, amid the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on group singing, the unfolding conversation on indigenous reconciliation, the increasing urgency of the climate crisis, and dwindling attendance within the institutional church?

As we look to the second century of The Hymn Society, it’s equally important to gather around the question of fostering vital congregational song across Canada. What has this organization meant to you in the past decades? What are you noticing in your communities now? What are your hopes for the future of The Hymn Society in the Canadian context?

Please join us and add your voice to the song. The sessions are free but registration is required.
