The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada, in collaboration with its Academic Concerns Committee, invites you to a dynamic roundtable discussion exploring best practices in teaching congregational song. This event is ideal for educators, scholars, and anyone interested in preparing the next generation of leaders in this vital field. This online event will take place on Tuesday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Our panel will feature a distinguished group of educators and experts in congregational song:

  • James Abbington, FHS – A leading voice in church music, hymnody, and African American worship traditions, Abbington brings a wealth of experience as a scholar, conductor, and mentor.
  • C. Michael Hawn, FHS – An internationally recognized authority on global hymnody and congregational song, Hawn is celebrated for his innovative approaches to teaching and research.
  • Cynthia Wilson, FHS – A renowned worship leader, composer, and advocate for liturgical excellence, Wilson offers deep expertise in the intersection of theology, music, and worship.
